Overview
「まなざしの奇跡 日本女性写真家の冒険」が、ヒカリエホール（渋谷ヒカリエ9階）で開催される。会期は7月4日～8月26日。
本展は、女性写真家に光を当てることで、新たな角度からより広範に日本の写真表現をたどり、その歴史を見直す機会として企画されたもの。1950年代から今日まで、日本の写真史のみならず美術史においても重要な役割を果たしてきた約30名の女性写真家による作品が一堂に会する。
狭義の「写真」という枠組みを超え、インスタレーション、コラージュ、映像などを含む多様なアプローチによる創造性豊かな作品を紹介する今回の展示では、約200点を展示。日本の写真界において表現メディアとして世界でも稀に見る独自の発展を遂げた印刷文化にも焦点を当て、多数の資料とともに紹介される。
小松は本展に『繁殖模倣変換器』を出品しています。ヒカリエホールの6メートルある天井高を生かしたインスタレーションです。
同作品から選抜し額装した24点の写真は、同時期にMEMで開催された個展「繁殖模倣変換器｜書物」で展示されました。
同じ書籍にもとづく「Japanese Women Photographers: From 1950s to Now」が、2024年のアルル国際写真祭を皮切りに、オランダ、ドイツを巡回し、ロンドンのThe Photographers’ Galleryで開催されています。
“I’m So Happy You Are Here: Japanese Women Photographers from the 1950s to Now” is on view at Hikarie Hall (Shibuya Hikarie 9F) from July 4 to August 26, 2026.
The exhibition revisits the history of Japanese photography from a new and broader perspective by focusing on women photographers. It brings together works by approximately thirty women who have played significant roles not only in the history of Japanese photography but also in its art history, from the 1950s to the present day.
Going beyond the narrow framework of “photography,” the exhibition presents around 200 works created through diverse approaches including installation, collage, and moving image. It also focuses on Japan’s printing culture, which developed as a medium of expression in a way rarely seen elsewhere in the world, presented alongside a wide range of related materials.
Komatsu is exhibiting “Propagation Imitator” for this exhibition, an installation that makes use of the six-meter ceiling height of Hikarie Hall.
Twenty-four photographs selected from the same body of work were presented framed in her solo exhibition “Propagation Imitator | Book-work” at MEM, held during the same period.
“Japanese Women Photographers: From 1950s to Now”, based on the same publication, has travelled from Les Rencontres d’Arles in 2024 through the Netherlands and Germany, and is currently on view at The Photographers’ Gallery, London.
